Who We are
In 1968, Rev. Troy Perry accepted the call of God to hold a worship service in his home for those who experienced rejection by their religious communities and often their families. A worship service, which quickly grew into a ministry of affirming welcoming and loving equally all of God’s children. A ministry, which today is a worldwide religious denomination rooted in welcoming and affirming all of God’s children regardless of orientation as equal heirs of God’s love, Christ’s salvation, and the Holy Spirit’s anointing and leading.
Metropolitan Community Churches, started by Rev. Troy Perry in 1968, began as a small group of 12 that has grown into the largest religious movement of LGBTQIA inclusion in modern US history, all from a magazine advertisement. Aside from its large network of churches all over the world, MCC is also known as an advocate of social justice through its Global Justice Institute, serving local, national and international communities through political reform.
MCC as well as Resurrection Beach MCC, in particular, is affirming of all God’s people regardless of who God created him or her to be. We profess the love of God to all people, welcome and affirm all people; LGBTQIA, straight allies, and all who may be in between.
Resurrection Beach MCC, in similar fashion, continues to seek to be a shining light for those in OC who’ve found themselves de-churched through its emphasis on worship and fellowship, as well as its community outreach to organizations like Children’s Hospital of Orange County, the Corbin Family Resource Center, Strength for the Journey, AIDs Team Ministry and feeding the homeless and less fortunate.
Our celebration comes in many forms and as often as there is a need or opportunities to serve. Our community remains strong and vibrant because of our prayer and praise life, our love and care for one another, and our shared commitment to being the hands, feet, face, and voice of Jesus Christ to those in need.
Thank you for the opportunity to share just a bit about who we are. We would love to have you check out the rest of our website and also to come and worship with us. If you would like more information or to speak with us, please call us at 714-662-6972.
